Our Story
MeLFeLL Preschool & Daycare was founded with the aspiration of providing the very best care and education for children. This dedication is our driving force and remains strong . We were inspired by the hundred languages principle from the Reggio Emilia approach which emphasizes the importance of providing children with one hundred ways to share their thinking of the world around them. Through play and projects, we embarked on a collaborative learning journey with the children and our families. This journey continues to bring us joy every day. We place a strong emphasis on interaction and relationships and strongly believe that learning is a journey that never ends. ” The child is made of one hundred. Our educational philosophy supports inquiry-based, student-centered learning. We want to empower our students, first by providing a safe, friendly learning environment and then by building their self-advocacy and sense of being independent, active learners.
The core programme is based on play, and children enjoy and are immersed in play when the adults do not interfere. During discovery and experimental play, teachers take photos and videos of the children’s activities. By revisiting these activities during reflection, children are engaged in their learning and are driven to find solutions to their problems through discussions and further explorations. Teachers guide children in making connections and extend their understanding of these concepts through follow-up activities.
Play Adventures come at the end of every term, with activities that involve teachers. These Adventures can be excursions, parent involvement events to showcase the children’s learning. Children take more pride in their work and build more confidence when they see that the adults are interested and invested in their learning.
